Fudge Batter Pudding

1 cup flour

1 cup white sugar, divided

3 T. plus 1/3 cup cocoa, divided

2 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. salt

1/2 cup milk

2 T. melted butter or vegetable oil

1 tsp. vanilla

1 2/3 cups hot water

Whipped topping or ice cream.

In a greased deep 2 quart round casserole, mix well the flour, 1/2 cup of the with sugar, 3 T. cocoa, baking powder and the salt. Set aside.

Mix the milk, melted butter and vanilla; stir into the flour mixture and blend well.

Sprinkle evenly with the remaining 1/3 cup of cocoa and the 1/2 cup of white sugar.

Pour the water over all.

Bake in 350 oven for 40 minutes, or until a pick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Serve warm or cold with whipped topping or vanilla ice cream.
