3 to 3 and 3/4 pounds ground beef
3/4 teaspoon black pepper
3 teaspoons oregano
3/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
3 teaspoons onion salt
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 1/4 teaspoons garlic powder
3/4 cup fine bread crumbs
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Mix all the ingredients together.
Shape into 4 rectangular loaves, for easy slicing when baked.
Place loaves on a wire rack on a baking sheet.
Bake for 90 minutes.
During this time, prepare the following vegetables, to be used with the meat on sandwiches.
Onion rings
Green pepper strips
Lettuce leaves
Tomato slices
These sandwiches are especially good when made with rye bread.
